Another card on consignment from a local Denver-based collector, here's an oddball that even the most ardent and experienced Hall of Fame baseball card collectors rarely come across. Although it is sometimes identified as an issue distributed by Jack in the Box restaurants, there is no such identifier on this rare Reggie Jackson second-year issue. According to the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards, the set is rather a so-called "fantasy issue" sold only within hobby circles by Boston area photographer Mike Andersen, who produced similar sets in both 1969 and 1970. Few sets from either year have survived in any condition, let alone the remarkable Gem Mint shape in which we find this astonishing Reggie Jackson example. Only 21 copies of the 1969 Jackson have ever been submitted to PSA for grading, and that's Reggie's rookie year, while only 26 copies of the 1970 example have been graded, with the offered masterpiece ranking as one of only two prominent copies to earn the grade of Gem Mint 10. Longtime eBay seller Dean's cards is currently offering a Pop 6 PSA 8 NM-MT graded copy for $1,140, which makes one wonder about the price tag for a Pop 2 PSA 9, let alone a Pop 2 PSA 10. This is a very rare card offered in stunning Gem Mint condition.
