Measuring 4 x 5" and distributed in conjunction with Cincinnati professional athlete autograph appearances at Kroger food stores, the 1968-70 Partridge Meats cards were distributed over a three-year period in southwest Ohio. Featuring players not only from the Reds, but also from the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals and the NBA's Cincinnati Royals, the cards are one of those tricky regional issues that do not come up for auction very often, especially in high grade. The offered Johnny Bench card, therefore, is all the more special given the fact that it is in sparkling mint condition, as certified by PSA, which has awarded it a Mint 9 grade. While not technically a rookie card of Reds' Hall of Fame backstop, this stunning black-and-white portrait card can be properly described as coming from Bench's rookie era, which further boosts its standing as a highly-desired collectible. With its four razor-sharp corners, clean edges and surfaces free of any sort of toning, it is an unsurpassed specimen of one of the greatest catchers in major league history. Johnny Bench and Cincinnati Reds PSA Set Registrants take notice—this is a card that won't be bettered.
