Patterson, New Jersey native Louis Francis Cristillo, better known as Lou Costello, was an American actor and comedian best known for his work with partner Bud Abbott. In addition to conducting their own television show on various stations throughout the 1940s and 50s, which would see syndication for decades to come, the duo starred in 36 films between 1940 and 1956 and were among the highest paid actors in the world during World War II -- not too shabby for two kids from New Jersey (Abbot was from Asbury Park) who'd developed their comedy skits and acting skills in the burlesque and vaudeville circuits during the Great Depression. They are of course best remembered for their "Who's on First?" routine, easily one of the most famous bits of comedy ever composed, the answer to which we've finally supplied in the picture below. Considered one of the tougher signatures of Hollywood stars from the 40s and 50s to acquire, offered here is a rare cut signature from Costello, affixed to a 3x5 index card and certified authentic by JSA.
