Among the first 1990s baseball insert cards to begin serial-numbering each card's low print run was the 1997 Flair Showcase Legacy Collection. A full 540-card parallel to the regular set, the Legacy Collection cards could likewise be found in three different Row variations (Row 2, Row 1, and Row 0), but because all Legacy Collection cards were printed to just 100 made, they are all equally as rare and could be pulled from packs at a rate of one in 30. On the basketball front, Flair's 1996-97 Showcase Legacy Collection cards of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are among the most expensive and sought after hoops inserts of the late 1990s, with even Mint 9 examples fetching multiple thousands, and we expect the same demand to eventually develop for the 11th New York Yankee Captain Derek Jeter. Offered in this outstanding lot is both of Derek's Row 1 and Row 2 Legacy Collection variations, serial-numbered 010/100 and 011/100 made, and ranking as a Pop 4 and a Pop 2 in Gem Mint 10 condition on PSA's population report. Extremely susceptible to surface scratches, the cards are notoriously condition sensitive, and it is unlikely that very many Gems will surface any time soon.
