Proudly offered is Roger Clemens from one of the most mysterious and mythical baseball insert sets ever produced. From baseballcardpedia.com: "This mysterious parallel carries a lot of speculation about its origin, Pinnacle Brand's intentions, and scarcity as Pinnacle never officially referenced this parallel set prior to the product's release. It is unknown if this parallel was planned to be released into packs or if these were inserted into packs as a mistake. It is also unknown if this parallel was intended to be a 'stealth' insert/parallel like the 1998 Donruss Crusades or Certified Mirror Gold Teams. Many collectors (appropriately) assume these were supposed to be a 'one-of-one' parallel but it is not known for sure if Mirror Blacks for all 150 cards exist; however, Beckett Baseball Card Monthly reported in 1997 that at least two Mirror Blacks of Jay Buhner were pulled from packs."

Importantly, the Mirror Blacks are nearly identical to the base cards except the Mirror Black front design has a holographic finish similar to a refractor. Unknown to our consignor, the offered card was discovered within his collection and was obviously different than his other 1997 Select Certified cards. BGS did not label it correctly on its first pass through grading, although the card is now back in Dallas being relabeled. In total, BGS has graded three other Mirror Blacks, all of them unique, while PSA has graded 16 total, all of them likewise unique. According to baseballcardpedia.com, exactly 22 different players from the set have been confirmed to exist. With the Jay Buhner duplicate and the addition of this new Clemens discovery, that makes just 24 total examples known. It is, hands down, the most mysterious, indeed mythical, insert set in the hobby, and here is your chance to own one of its key cards, featuring the record breaking seven-time Cy Young Award winner.
