Manny's Baseball Land was a souvenir shop outside of Yankee Stadium throughout the 1960s. In 1961, the company issued 18 different 10-piece team packs of 8x10 black and white photos for $1.50 a set. While not especially rare, the photos were printed on very thin semi-gloss paper that has made surviving examples unusually condition sensitive. Even those rare copies that look to be in decent condition will typically show kinks and other imperfections in their thin paper stock that limit technical grades to a max of EX or EX-MT. Offered here is one of just four Sandy Koufax examples to surface at PSA since last year's introduction of its new jumbo holder. Recently graded VG-EX 4 on behalf of our consignor, the offered copy will not only fill the gap in your updated Set Registry checklist until a better copy surfaces, it will register as a coveted "gray stripe" because of its highest graded status, which also entitles the owner to an additional bonus point for his or her Set Registry. With no other copies currently showing on either eBay or anywhere else on Google, however, it might take some time to improve upon the seemingly uncirculated copy offered in this lot. Evidently, these things are quite a bit scarcer than their moderate pricing in the Standard Catalog suggests.
