Derek Jeter's 1993 Topps #98 rookie card has become one of the Captain's classic pieces of cardboard. In PSA 10 Gem Mint condition, they currently sell for about $125 to $150 at auction. According to PSA's Population Report, there are, as of writing, 2,351 of these in gem mint shape, which is a substantial number even for a player of Jeter's popularity. Compare that to the 61 examples of Jeter's 1993 Topps Colorado Rockies Inaugural edition rookie card in PSA 10 condition. The offered card is one of those 61 gems, as it originates from the Colorado Rockies Inaugural factory set, a gold foil embossed parallel edition to Topps's '93 base set. Limited in its distribution to four team-owned stores in Colorado and to Mile High Stadium in Denver, somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 sets were produced and sold, a mere fraction of the print run of Topps's base set, which is likely in the millions. In our humble opinion, this is a highly undervalued card, and we could foresee it making a threefold jump in value sometime before the year, oh, let's just say
2020.
