The current high bids for the cumulative group of singles is currently higher than the total for the complete set (this lot is currently winning)

Offered is one of the single finest 1986-87 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan rookie cards in existence. It is perfectly centered, not just on its front side, but on its typically imperfect reverse as well. How many of the other 218 examples of this world famous slice of American popular culture can claim the same? Its corners and edges are also pristine, with absolutely no trace of any imperfections whatsoever. Both surfaces are as accurately and boldly printed as any other example we've ever seen, including the half dozen Pristine 10 copies on record at BGS, the first of which sold for $150,000 in 2006, and the most recent of which fetched $100,000 in 2011.

With no hyperbole or other exaggeration, the offered PSA 10 is better than those, both of which are shown below for comparison purposes only and are not included in this lot. Card grading is not rocket science. We invite you to super-size the images below -- click each image once to enlarge it, and then click the white icon in the lower right corner of the enlarged image to super-size it -- and use your own discretion to see for yourself how superior the offered example is to the six-figure BGS 10 Pristines that have dominated hobby headlines.

Certified Gem Mint 10 by PSA, the most trusted third-party grading and authentication firm in the industry, and housed in PSA's newly designed and refortified, tamper-proof holder, here is the most famous basketball card in the world, scrutinized with laboratory equipment by an actual optometrist, and selected from among 100s of other candidates in Dr. Hlis's quixotic, decade-long search for the finest Michael Jordan rookie card in existence. Is this it? Did DrPSA discover the G.O.A.T.'s G.O.A.T.? Maybe. Is there a better copy somewhere on earth? Perhaps. But we haven't seen it yet, and we doubt anyone ever will.

Important Note: We are listing this card and the other top 15 selections from the DrPSA Michael Jordan Showcase collection in both group/set form in lot #1 of our Summer Premium Auction as well as in individual lots, and the cards will sell via whichever format delivers the highest final price for our consignor.
