Offered is a unusually scarce high-grade example of Sandy Koufax's seldom-seen 1964 Meadowgold Dairy issue. Printed for a brief period of time on the sides of milk cartons some 55 years ago, only 13 total copies have survived the last half-century to be submitted to PSA for professional third-party evaluation. While PSA doesn't distinguish the colors, both a green and a blue tint version exist. The offered blue example has been graded PSA 6 EX-MT and ranks as one of the two highest graded copies on record, a Pop 2 powerhouse with none better. Not only is the offered copy one of the finest two copies in existence, but we cannot discern a single feature that keeps it from ranking as the single finest in existence. Mint to Gem Mint corners and edges encompass two NM to Mint surfaces that may have been downgraded due to a small print mark on Sandy's face and some mild toning on back. Even with these characteristics, we thought the card merited a grade of at least NM 7 if not NM-MT 8. It is a newly graded example that has not yet been submitted for a review for a possible (if not likely) higher grade, and we strongly encourage the winning bidder to do so.
