When putting Nolan Ryan's baseball career into proper prospective— a career which spanned parts of four decades— it is hard to quantify just how impactful he was. Not only does the pitcher hold the record for career strikeouts with 5,714, he K'd 55 different members of the Baseball Hall of Fame, from Eddie Mathews to Ken Griffey, Jr. That is incredible! Of course before the Texas-born fireballer went out west to play for the Angels and then home to star for the Astros and Rangers, he was in New York. It was in Queens where Ryan got his start in the bigs, breaking in with the Mets in 1966 before establishing himself as a regular starter in '68. Offered here is an oversized item from Nolan's final season in the Big Apple, a 1971 Mets Team Issue Photo Pack card, graded Gem Mint 10 by PSA. One of only two PSA 10s awarded, it is perfect in every sense with its on-point centering, superior image clarity, and sharp corners. Although the hurler's trade from the Mets is still a blunder worthy of discussion, Ryan did win his only World Series title during his stint in New York, and his Mets cards are among his most sought-after. This PSA 10 Gem Mint 10 blazer should be foremost among them.
