One of the finest two examples in the hobby! University of Georgia halfback Joe Geri, who led the Southeastern Conference with 90 points in 1948, appears on this pack-fresh and perfectly centered slice of cardboard from the coveted 1951 Bowman gridiron issue. Geri played just four seasons in the NFL from 1949 to 1952 and was a two-time Pro Bowler in 1950 (as one of just four players unanimously selected) and 1951 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is a member of the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, which credits him with the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1949, even though the first such award wasn't initiated until 1955 when United Press International (UPI) honored Colts rookie sensation and 1954 Heisman Trophy winner Alan Ameche with the award.
