Looking for something to accompany your frankincense and myrrh this holiday season? Well, this should certainly do the trick. For the few remaining skeptics who still believe baseball cards aren't worth the paper they're printed on, this drool-worthy 1997 Donruss Preferred Precious Metals Derek Jeter card is printed in one gram of .999 pure gold, so there goes that theory. Among the most coveted insert (or chase) cards from the mid to late 1990s, the 1997 Donruss Preferred Precious Metals cards consisted of a 25-card partial parallel to the regular set, only difference being that five of the cards were printed on real silver, ten on platinum, and ten on gold. Not only are they unique and valuable in this sense, but each card was limited to just 100 copies produced, and they also feature a surprisingly pleasant and refined design for the period, far less flashy than most of their contemporary insert sets, and perfectly suited to the high-class materials onto which they are printed. In a word, and in deed, they are precious. Graded BGS 10 Pristine.
