Spring 2017 Major League Baseball "Set Registry Masters" Premium Auction
Quite possibly the single toughest and most condition sensitive baseball card produced during Derek Jeter's so-called rookie years of 1992 to 1996 to encounter in Gem Mint condition, the offered superior 1996 Bowman Foil parallel is one of only four specimens to make the PSA 10 Gem Mint grade, a powerhouse Pop 4 capable of reordering the finest PSA Set Registry collections in existence. When you compare it to the 1993 Upper Deck SP foil, the Bowman foil was produced in far less quantity. They were inserted at a rate of one card per pack, and with all 385 cards in the set produced in a foil version, that means you would have to open 16 boxes of Bowman cards just to acquire a single Jeter card, whereas you encounter anywhere from 1 to 3 Jeter cards in just one 1993 SP box. If you look at the quantity of both cards available for sale on eBay, there are less than 3% of the Bowman Foil Jeter cards, as compared to the 1993 SP Jeter cards. Not only is the foil out of which the card is constructed ultra condition sensitive, but the card is also notorious for poor top-to-bottom centering issues and very rough edges, so bad that most examples often show the foil to be peeling away from the card stock. In short, we think it's a safe bet to say that this challenging foil parallel version of Derek Jeter's 1996 Bowman baseball card will retain a lower population of Gem Mint 10s on record at PSA than the famous 1993 SP.
