Here is the highest PSA-graded example of the key card, Babe Ruth, from the very first edition of the iconic Hall of Fame Plaque Postcard series. While most collectors and baseball fans know them as what would eventually become the HOF Yellow Plaque Postcards in 1964, the first edition, printed between 1939 and 1943, featured a sepia-toned printing against a cream-colored card stock. Precious few of these pre-war Cooperstown mementos remain in circulation today, but over the coming months Small Traditions will be offering several dozen different examples, most of which will be the first-ever entries on PSA's population report. The offered Babe Ruth has been graded PSA 5 EX and shares its highest-graded status with one other copy on record at PSA from a total submission pool of just four. Also offered in the following lots in the current auction are highest graded specimens of fellow inaugural HOF class inductees Honus Wagner and Ty Cobb. If you are curious about this rare set and are interested in viewing or acquiring additional entries in what is currently an unknown checklist, please be sure to return to Small Traditions for our April auction.
