One of just nine copies graded PSA 10 Gem Mint. Proudly offered in this lot is one of Derek Jeter's toughest and most condition sensitive rookie cards from his final minor league season of 1995, the elusive 1995 Upper Deck Special Edition Gold Parallel. Derek made his first Major League starts in 1995, joining then Yankee captain Don Mattingly in his final season for just 15 games, in which he batted .250 and committed a couple of errors. Unimpressed and un-enamored with rookie players, George Steinbrenner insisted that the Yankees trade Mariano Rivera for the Mariners' Felix Fermin to fill the starting SS role for 1996, but dependable Yankee scout Gene Michael and Assistant GM Brian Cashman convinced Steinbrenner that Jeter was their guy.

Fortunately for Steinbrenner and for untold millions of Yankees fans around the globe, Mo stayed with the team, and Jeter started on opening day in 1996, the first Yankee shortstop to start for the team as a rookie since Tom Tresh in 1962. In typical Jeter-ian fashion, the future "Captain Clutch" hit his first home run that day and would of course go on to win the 1996 Rookie of the Year Award as well as the World Series. The 1995 Special Edition cards were only available in hobby exclusive packs from Upper Deck, and like the 1993 SP Foil, their front surfaces are composed entirely of a sensitive all-foil surface. The gold examples are nearly impossible to find in any condition, let alone PSA 10 Gem Mint, and we're confident they'll grow significantly scarcer and more valuable as the 2020 Hall of Fame inductions approach.
