Heading into our seventh year of auctions at our newly redesigned website at www.SmallTraditions.com, our current Summer Classic Auction boasts some of the finest and most valuable graded sports cards we've ever been privileged to offer. The 1921 E121 "Babe" Ruth PSA 7 and 1998 Playoff Contenders Rookie Ticket Autograph Peyton Manning PSA 10 in lots one and two are dream cards that will almost certainly disappear into private collections for the foreseeable future, quite possibly never to be seen again. Not to be overlooked, however, is the offered 2001 Studio Masterstrokes Artists Proofs Autographs rookie card featuring the 2001 NL Rookie of the Year, Albert Pujols. From a microscopic print run of only 25 produced, the offered BGS 9.5 Gem is one of only two examples ever graded Gem Mint from the combined firms of BGS and PSA. Not only that, but the offered example has scored unlikely pristine 10 marks in three of the opined five grading categories, including its centering, surface, and autograph. Most importantly, the card features an absolutely stunning design, highlighted by a rookie-year game-used bat piece and a rookie-year Cardinals home jersey logo patch, which captures the gold beak of the celebrated red bird. Not only is it unique in terms of both its condition and its design, but it is simply put one of the most attractive Albert Pujols rookie cards we've ever seen. Why then are you most likely just now seeing it for the first time? With only 25 copies made, most of which have been hoarded by advanced collectors due to the card's exquisite design, there is no record of any sales of the other 24 copies going all the way back to the early 2000s. In short, this may be the one and only opportunity in your lifetime to ever add a Gem Mint copy of this stunning rookie card of baseball's sixth-most accomplished home run hitter (and counting).
