One of just nine players of baseball's uber elite 600 home run club, three-time NL MVP Albert "He-Hit-the-Ball-So-Hard-It-Pujols-in-Your-Glove" is one of the most accomplished and respected batsmen in the history of Major League Baseball. He is the only player to ever hit at least .300 with 30 or more home runs and 100 or more RBI in his first ten seasons, and he was the fastest to ever collect 500 doubles, which he achieved at the end of his twelfth season, his first with his current team, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. His career totals for home runs and RBI as of mid-August, 2018, are 632 and 1,976, which currently rank 6th and 7th all-time, respectively. By the end of the current season, he should be able to pass Barry Bonds on the all-time RBI leaders list, who currently ranks 5th with 1,996. However, with three years remaining on his contract with the Angels, Bonds and Hank Aaron, the current career leaders in home runs (762) and RBI (2,297) best watch out. Although he has long been called "King Albert"—among dozens of other nicknames, bested in quantity perhaps by only Babe Ruth—there may be a new coronation in baseball before he retires.

Proudly offered in this lot is a BGS 9.5 Gem Mint graded example of El Hombre's 2001 Fleer Platinum parallel. Limited to just 21 copies produced, it is a card so scarce that we have been unable to track a single sale of any of the other 20 copies in existence. Of those scant 20 others, only four have graded as high as the offered BGS Gem, with none graded higher from 8 on record with the Dallas-based grading firm. For its part, Newport Beach-based grading authority PSA has graded 7 of the 21 produced and awarded just a single Gem. Those who have followed Pujols's cards and career since he burst onto the scene in 2001 can attest to the infrequency with which this ghost-like parallel has appeared over the last two decades, so don't let this opportunity pass you by.
