Spring 2017 Major League Baseball "Set Registry Masters" Premium Auction
Although he did not play a full season in the majors until the following year, Derek Jeter made his big league debut with the New York Yankees on May 29, 1995 in Seattle's Kingdome. The following night he collected a pair of hits off veteran pitcher Tim Belcher, the first two of 3,465 in his soon-to-be Hall of Fame career. Though he was sent back down to the minors following starting shortstop Tony Fernandez's return from injury, Jeter got his first taste of the Bronx in the spring of '95. Offered here is a rare and condition sensitive parallel card from the Captain's debut year. This 1995 Upper Deck Collector's Choice Gold Signature rookie card has been graded Gem Mint 10 by PSA, one of only 13 examples of the 48 submitted to achieve this grade. With delicate full-bleed color borders all-round, finding a mint or better example such as this is harder than locating the proverbial needle in the haystack. Or, for that matter, finding a prospect as talented as a young Derek Jeter.
