A borderline Hall of Famer, St. Louis legend Ken Boyer's .287 average with 2,143 hits and 1,141 RBI falls just short of consideration for Cooperstown. His number 14, however, was retired by the Cardinals in 1984, and he is a celebrated member of the Cardinals' Hall of Fame, largely thanks to his role in the 1964 World Series, the club's first championship season since 1946. In addition to that ring, Boyer also won the 1964 MVP award and appeared in seven all-star games, batting .348 with two home runs. Offered in this lot is a perfect PSA 10 Gem Mint example of Ken's first Topps All-Star card from 1959. Recently graded PSA 10 Gem Mint and ranking as one of just two examples in PSA's top grade from nearly 500 submissions, the card also ranks as one of just 547 total PSA 10 Gems on record from the 1959 set from a sizable submission pool of over 317,000 copies on record.
