On the auction block is a masterpiece 1/1 Derek Jeter Platinum parallel to the 2013 Topps base card #373, graded PSA 9 Mint and serial numbered 1/1 on front. As Jeter's inevitable induction into Cooperstown in 2020 approaches, both fans and investment savvy collectors will horde as many of The Captain's better rookie cards and inserts as their finances permit. It's been just three quick seasons since his retirement in 2014, and already the sense that he was a once-in-a-generation player like Ruth and Gehrig and DiMaggio and Mantle before him has been widely acknowledged. Foremost among his very best cards, without question, are 1/1 or one-of-one parallels to traditional sets like The Topps Company's regular annual installment. Cards like these from the earlier years of his career routinely command multiple thousands of dollars, even in less-than-perfect condition, and it is our opinion that this one should be counted among them. To be clear, it is not some random super short printed insert that bears the 1/1 stamp like dozens if not hundreds of other inserts produced every year. Rather, it is thee 1/1 masterpiece parallel to one of Jeter's penultimate standard Topps cards, and we simply could not recommend it strongly enough.
