As any 1990s baseball card collector knows, 1996 Select Certified was an industry-changing set. Not only were the chrome-finished cards beautifully designed, but they contained the trio of now-legendary Mirror parallels: Mirror Red (limited to 90 examples made), Mirror Blue (limited to 45), and Mirror Gold (limited to 30). These print runs, though unremarkable by today's hobby standards, were microscopic in an era of overproduction. It is not a stretch to call the '96 Certified set the most influential super-premium issue ever created.

The most important entry in this landmark set is, without question, the rookie card of Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter. The Mirror Gold version of this card is considered by most DJ collectors to be the Holy Grail—a PSA 10 example of which we sold for an astronomical $33,988 back in September 2014! Though the offered card is a mid-grade, PSA 5 Excellent specimen of Jeter's slightly more plentiful Mirror Red rookie, it is nonetheless one of the most desirable RCs of the New York baseball legend. Dinged lower left corner aside, this card is a prismatic kaleidoscope of Captain cardboard splendor. If you have been looking to snag one of these rarities at a price that won't break the bank, here's your golden opportunity.
