If you were collecting during the 1994 baseball season, you remember one thing, above all others, about the hobby: Seattle Mariners super prospect Alex Rodriguez was the hottest thing since Pogs. One of A-Rod's most desired cards was an insert in packs of Upper Deck's premium 1994 SP brand. Called Holoviews, each of the 38 cards in the set featured a hologram image of the depicted player which seemed to come alive and magically move when you rotated the card. Beautifully designed, this 3-D printing technology became a trademark of mid- and late-90s Upper Deck products. Offered here is a BGS 9.5 Gem Mint example of the rarer die-cut parallel of Rodriguez's Holoview insert, #33 in the groundbreaking set. Flashy and colorful, this near-perfect specimen epitomizes all that was cool about collecting in the 1990s. If you had owned this card on the playground back in '94, you would have been king. Unfortunately, you will have to settle for owning it today, making the 11-year-old inside of you quite jealous, indeed. We have learned over the years never to dismiss the coolness factor when evaluating the cards we sell, and this A-Rod offering has plenty to spare.
