Brand new to the hobby and recently graded by Small Traditions on behalf of our consignor, the presented 1986 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan rookie card has been assessed Mint 9 by PSA but just misses consideration for Gem Mint 10. Highlighted by pristine corners and edges and near perfect centering, the image can only be called Mint due to a hardly discernible print dot in the dark background above Mike's nearly rim-level head. The back surface features equally impressive centering but also shows a typical print mark above the Chicago Bulls logo, negating the possibility of grading PSA 10. With several recent PSA 10 sales topping the five-figure $10,000 mark, however, the presented borderline Gem offers significant value in the grade of Mint 9, prices for which have ranged over the last year from as cheap as $1,600 for lower-end Mint 9 examples with less than accurate centering to as high as $2,400 and up for copies with distinct Gem Mint features like the offered near Gem. Steadily increasing in value over the last decade, there may be no smarter or more enjoyable investment than an authentic, high-grade Michael Jordan rookie card. Graded PSA Mint 9.
