Up for bids here is a strong mid-grade example of basketball great Lew Alcindor's only recognized rookie card. This oversized card, measuring 2-1/2" by 4-11/16", is difficult to find in top condition due to its larger size. Two years before he became Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the name by which he became world famous, Alcindor was regarded as the game's top prospect, as he turned down a million dollar contract to join the Harlem Globetrotters in order to play in the NBA. Picked first in the 1969 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, the 7'2" center led the team to its only championship in 1971, capturing the MVP award in the NBA Finals. The sport's all-time leading scorer, Abdul-Jabbar has achieved greatness off the court as well, as an actor and through his humanitarian work. Offered here is the UCLA alumnus's 1969 Topps #25 rookie. Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA, it is a rock solid mid-grade copy, boasting good centering, sharp image registration and clean surfaces for its technical grade. With PSA 10 specimens selling for an astounding $240,000, this PSA 6 is an affordable alternative to that six-figure gem that won't break the bank. Add this attractive first-year card of the six-time NBA champion to your collection today.
