Mickey Mantle, Jerry May, Sandy Alomar, and Gary Sutherland comprise one of the most common quartets among the various 1969 Topps Stamp four-stamp panels, and until this nearly perfect specimen surfaced from the long-time collection of a local Denver-based consignor, no copy had ever graded higher than the lone NM 7 specimen on record. As is common with most of the 1969 Topps Stamps panels and singles, centering is a major issue, but that's not the case on this unusually high-grade copy. Near perfect centering joins Gem Mint corners and edges around perfectly printed player portraits on a clean Mint obverse. Now that I'm studying it more closely, this item actually appears far closer to Mint condition than to NM-MT, rightfully earning its status as the finest example on record in the hobby.
