Although the team was quite competitive, the 1965 Milwaukee Braves were nevertheless last in the National League in attendance. A big reason for the low turnout was undoubtedly the fact that the team announced their move to Atlanta prior to the '65 season. Only a court injunction kept the Braves in their County Stadium lease for one final campaign. "Fan reaction to this resolution was one of unrepressed anger," noted legal scholar J. Gordon Hylton, who has studied the Wisconsin Supreme Court case Wisconsin v. The Milwaukee Braves. Hylton pointed out that the "season was played under a fan boycott, and barely a half million people showed up for the Braves home games that year." When you take into account the fact that the offered 1965 Milwaukee Braves Picture Packs were sold through ballpark souvenir stands, it makes the picture card of Hall of Famer Hank Aaron, up for bids here, all the more scarce. After all, who in Brew City wanted photos of players who were soon to leave town?

The offered Aaron picture card is one of only 17 ever evaluated by PSA, and is the one-and-only PSA 10 Gem Mint example. Measuring 5" by 7" and printed on thin paper, this vintage Hammerin' Hank collectible is as fragile as it is rare, making this gem mint beauty all the more amazing. Featuring an attractive smiling black and white portrait of the prodigious home run hitter, it will be one of the top cards in even the most elite Aaron collection.
