Six. That is the number, out of 972 submissions, of PSA 10 examples of Sandy Koufax's 1964 Topps Giants #3 card. Called "Giants" due to their large size—each of the 60 cards in the set measures 3-1/8" x 5-1/4"—they are a favorite of team collectors due to the inclusion of three players from each of Major League Baseball's 20 teams. Koufax's card, however, is one of the seven short-printed cards in the set, and has proved extremely elusive to collectors trying to complete a mint or better graded set of this classic oversized issue. Compounding this difficulty is the fact that '64 Topps Giants aficionados must compete for this white whale with Koufax and Dodgers collectors, who are admired in the hobby for their passion and willingness to go the extra mile to land their desired card. As a result, sales of the precious few PSA 10 examples of this card have been nothing short of spectacular: $32,891 in 2007, $8,365 in 2014, and $15,000 in 2015. Even if you consider the '07 Mastro Auctions sale an early outlier, this card has nevertheless averaged almost $11,700 in its last two public sales. If you were looking for proof of the vitality of this hobby, here is your smoking gun!

Regarding the offered card itself, it is a full-color stunner. An absolute museum-quality piece of vintage cardboard, it features four razor-sharp corners, perfect centering, and the crispest photo registration we've seen from this set. Not only is this large card of the legendary lefty breathtaking to behold, it is an investment piece genuinely worthy of an elite portfolio. There was no better pitcher in baseball's Golden Age than Sanford "Sandy" Koufax. He was a four-time World Series champion, three-time Cy Young Award winner, two-time World Series MVP, and the 1963 National League MVP. Oh, and let's not forget his four no-hitters, capped by a perfect game thrown in his penultimate season. Now is your opportunity to own one of the finest pieces of cardboard of this all-time great.
