Although Baltimore baseball has had its share of heroes over the years—Cal Ripken, Jr., Jim Palmer, and Frank Robinson, to name a few—perhaps the most beloved Oriole of them all is Brooks Robinson. "Brooks never asked anyone to name a candy bar after him," observed sportswriter Gordon Beard. "In Baltimore, people named their children after him." Dubbed the "Human Vacuum Cleaner" for his prodigious defensive work at third base, Robinson earned 18 All-Star Game appearances and 16 Gold Glove Awards in his 23 years in the big leagues, all with the O's. Offered here is the Hall of Famer's 1959 Topps #439 card, in PSA 9 Mint condition. A top-flight specimen of the Oriole's third-year card, it is unequaled in terms of grade, as there are no PSA 10s in existence. Featuring bright, pack-fresh colors and a perfectly registered photo of Robinson in his batting stance, it is a must-have for any high-end collector of '59 Topps cards. And good luck finding a copy as nicely centered as this one! This premium item would make a great stocking stuffer for the Orioles fan in your life, or as a nice little Holiday gift to yourself. You can never go wrong with high grade vintage cards of Cooperstown's finest players.
