Chicago Bear defensive lineman Ray "Muscles" Bray won three championships with George Halas' dominant Bears teams of the 1940s. He played eleven seasons of professional football but missed the 1943 to 1945 seasons for his deployment in the Navy in World War II. Had he not served, most football historians believe he would have been selected to the Hall of Fame, as he received more nominations than any player not selected through 1960. His 1993 obituary in the Chicago Tribune tells of his most memorable play, an illegal one in which he tackled a defender who had intercepted a Bears pass and was headed for the goal line. Thing was, Bray wasn't in the game at that point, but he stepped onto the field and made the tackle without anyone realizing. One of only a handful of examples of his 1951 Bowman card to grade PSA Mint 9, the presented copy features strong Mint to Gem Mint features in every scrutable category and would easily qualify for PSA Gem Mint 10 consideration were it centered just a few hairs more to the left. An ideal selection for your high-grade 1951 Bowman PSA Set Registry
